Light is as malleable as clay and as vibrant and varied as colored paints. Your home and landscape is our easel. We choose from many different types of lighting to find what works best for you. The main three types we use are:
- Low Voltage
- Mercury Vapor
- Incandescent
Each form of light has its own traits and uses and brings out different aspects of your home and landscape.
Low Voltage Light is commonly used to light steps and pathways. It is excellent feature lighting that can spotlight a fountain or statue, or can be used as uplighting to spotlight your whole house. Its lower voltage makes it safe to use around young plants and short shrubs. Low voltage lamps give off a wonderfully clean, washed, white light.
Mercury Vapor Light is much more powerful and is used to bring out shades of green. It provides an ethereal bluish-green light that is reminiscent of natural moonlight. Mercury Vapor lamps do not work the same way regular lamps do. Rather than using a filament, Mercury Vapor lamps are lit by a gas-filled arc tube. These lamps can have a lifespan of up to 24,000 hours. These lights are excellent when used high up in trees and provide a natural, mystical glow.
Incandescent Light is the light we use in our regular light bulbs. It is the electric light that Thomas Edison invented over 120 years ago. It works when electricity heats up a wire filament inside the bulb, which sets off a glow. Incandescent lights work wonderfully with dimmers. They are perfect for lighting areas on patios, around pools, and in garden gazebos.
We can use any combination of these forms of lighting to set your home and garden awash with romantic, vibrant, vocative, or festive light.
